Which Beauty Is Lined Up For ‘Captain America: The Winter Soldier’? Plus More Potential Casting

While we wait patiently for the Phase 2 of Marvel’s slate of adventures to take flight, beginning quite literally with Tony Stark’s return with Shane Black’s IRON MAN 3 and the currently-shooting THOR: THE DARK WORLD, attention is beginning to turn to other Marvel projects. Perhaps lost amongst hype of those two upcoming efforts and the recent news of GUARDIANS OF THE GALAXY and THE AVENGERS 2, is Steve Rodgers sequel CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER.

We have word that a number of actresses are currently reading for the role of Rodgers’ potential love interest Sharon Carter, the niece of Peggy played by Brit beauty Hayley Atwell in THE FIRST AVENGER (talk about keeping it in the family). GAMES OF THRONES’ Emilia Clarke, COMMUNITY’s Alison Brie, DOWNTON ABBEY’s Jessica Brown Findlay are all in contention but whispers are Marvel are looking at SCOTT PILGRIM and THE THING’s Mary Elizabeth Winstead, who has just finished work on ANOTHER DAY TO DIE HARD.

It’s also expected that LOST and MISSION: IMPOSSIBLE – GHOST PROTOCOL’s Josh Holloway will join the supporting cast, although the role is also being eyed by another GAME OF THRONES star Nikolaj Coster Waldau and ROBIN HOOD’s Kevin Durand.

As always, we’ll keep you posted.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
