Whether you’re a fan of epic musicals or not, LES MISERABLES is a fascinating project. Based on the long-running stage play (which in turn is based on the Victor Hugo novel), the story is set in revolutionary France and follows Jean Valjean (this time played by Hugh Jackman), a prisoner who breaks his bail to try and make a new life for himself, but his pursued by the cunning Inspector Javert (ol’ beardy chops himself, below).
Directed by THE KING’S SPEECH’s Tom Hooper, this one has Oscar contender written all over it – expect big belting songs, frilly shirts, and plenty of French peasants. Oh, and a right old punch up in the shape of the June Rebellion, which plays as the backdrop to the story’s dramatic climax.
Joining Jackman and Crowe are Sacha Baron Cohen, Anne Hathway, Helena Bonham Carter, and Amanda Seyfried. LES MISERABLES is set for UK release of 11th January.
Check out the brand new Russell Crowe poster below, and we’ve even thrown in Isabelle Allen and Hugh Jackman posters as a cheeky bonus!
