The sequel to Marc Webb’s SPIDER-MAN reboot is currently in early development, and while we recently brought you confirmation that Andrew Garfield and Webb were confirmed as back on board, Emma Stone is still in negotiations for her return. I have no doubt Stone will indeed reappear, but the latest breaking developments suggest THE AMAZING SPIDER-MAN 2 will follow the doomed path of her character comic-book arc, with THE DESCENDANTS starlet Shailene Woodley now in early talks to take the role of ‘other’ love interest Mary-Jane Watson. Meaning, expect this to be Stone’s swan song.
Other whispers include Sony Pictures are looking at bringing Harry Osborne, previously played by James Franco in Sam Raimi’s trilogy, into the fore and are looking at potential candidates for the role. However the surprise major villain in the latest draft of the script is said to be non-other than Max Dillon – aka Electro! Could he work in Webb’s more reality-based hit? Well, a giant bloody lizard was touch and go.
