The response to the new-look ROBOCOP has been a little underwhelming to say the least. Whilst the 1987 version from Paul Verhoeven’s original movie looked like a convincing cyborg, the leaked images of the new Murphy look worrying like a man in a foam suit. However, before we count our resurrected robotic chickens, let’s remember José Padilha’s reboot is far from finished, and the pics we’ve cannot be put into any narrative context quite yet. Having said that, here’s the latest and most revealing snaps yet, giving a much clearer indication on what the character will look like in his entirety. And whilst it still looks a bit on the ‘foamy’ side, papped close-up images are not kind to incomplete effects work.

What exactly does a “convincing” cyborg look like?
When it boils down to it, the outer armour of the suit isn’t what RoboCop is.
Personally, I kinda like this look better than the original. I’m reserving judgement, but this looks like it would be some use in a police/combat situation.
Waiting to see what it looks like in motion. I’m personally hoping this new version has a bit more of a spring in his step.
