It has now been confirmed that CLOVERFIELD and LET ME IN director Matt Reeves will helm the sequel to Rupert Wyatt’s surprise box-office hit reboot, RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. We recently broke the story that Wyatt had vacated the project due to his unhappiness at working towards, what he suggested was a very tight deadline in order to meet the August 2014 release date. Early whispers were also rumbling that Matt Reeves may have left his own project, a feature-length movie reboot of Rod Serling’s THE TWILIGHT ZONE, to step into Wyatt’s shoes.
Well, that now appears true as Comingsoon.net have learned that Reeves has indeed taken on the ‘monkeys-gone-ape’ sequel that will be entitled DAWN OF THE PLANET OF THE APES. Andy Serkis is still currently onboard to reprise his motion-capture role of chief chimp Caesar.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
