Patrick Stewart has hinted that he and other cast mates from the first three X-MEN movies, may be returning in future films, at the 2012 Montreal Comic Convention. When asked at a Q & A about the prospect of returning to the franchise, which seemingly started afresh with a 1960s setting for X-MEN: FIRST CLASS, Stewart answered:
I think there is every possibility. Halle Berry! Famke Janssen! Rebecca Stamos! Anna Paquin! Yes, I’ll be reprising…
And then he was cut-off by his son Daniel. He went from saying it was a possibility to almost confirming his return. His listing of female cast members names’ hints that he is either a randy bugger, or they may be returning as well in the future.
Now it’s a question of whether they will be coming back for a follow-up to X-MEN: THE LAST STAND (2005), or if they will be a part of X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The latter will most certainly involve time-travel, and it could explain some of the inconsistencies between FIRST CLASS and previous films with a little parallel universe explanation.
It could be great to see the two timelines intertwince, but as long as it doesn’t start tripping over itself.
X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST will be released 18th July 2014. It stars James McAvoy, Michael Fassbender, and Jennifer Lawrence.
