Here’s the first trailer for the long awaited English language debut of Korean director Park Chan Wook, STOKER. The film has Nicole Kidman and Mia Wasikowska as mother and daughter, who are visited by a mysterious uncle (Matthew Goode) after the death of their husband/father. This will be Park’s first film since his 2009 vampire thriller THIRST, which was stunning in every way.
The visuals are unique in this trailer and already there is a great sense of ever impending doom. Goode comes across as particularly sinister, and Kidman seems unhinged. With Park’s exceptional and striking handling of violence in the past for films such as SYMPATHY FOR MR VENGEANCE (2002) and OLDBOY (2003), this is going to be an unforgettable thriller.
STOKER is released 1st March 2013. It stars Nicole Kidman, Mia Wasikowska, Dermot Mulroney, Matthew Goode, Lucas Till, Jacki Weaver, and Alden Ehrenreich.
