Robert Rodriguez has been discussing a SIN CITY (2005) sequel since the first film was released. Lord knows what is taking SIN CITY: A DAME TO KILL FOR so long, but obviously SPY KIDS: ALL THE TIME IN THE WORLD 4D was a story that just HAD to be told. At Fantastic Fest Rodriguez dropped an update to Shock Till You Drop:
It’s going to be closer to the source material than before.
Which is quite amazing when you consider that SIN CITY was very, very faithful for the most part. However, Rodriguez did also assure fans there would be some new story elements to create some surprises.
Rodriguez also updated folks on the current status of a PREDATORS sequel:
We were thinking about it. I don’t know, I’ll have to talk to them. They just had a regime change over there – we’ll see what happen.
The ‘regime change’ he mentions is obviously that of Tom Rothman stepping down as CEO to 20th Century Fox. So who knows if we’ll be seeing PREDATORS 2.
These are two films I would kind of like to see, but at the same time their cinematic universes aren’t going to feel incomplete without them. Should they just leave these franchises alone? Or could they be on the cusp of true greatness?
