Check out these first snaps of Jim Carrey as Colonel Star on the set of KICK-ASS 2. The character is a former associate of John Genovese – Mark Strong’s villain in the first film – who found god and turned to super-heroism to make amends. Colonel Star leads ‘Justice Forever’, a makeshift team of costumed vigilantes that Kick-Ass (Aaron Taylor-Johnson) joins during the course of the story. Other members of Justice Forever can also be seen in the images – Night Bitch (Lindy Booth) and Insect Man (Robert Emms).
After years of churning out utter dross, Jim Carrey could be on to a winner at long last with KICK-ASS 2, which will hopefully follow in the original’s awesome footsteps. Though Matthew Vaughn has stepped down as director (making way for up and coming Jeff Wadlow), he’s still on board as producer – and let’s not forget, the story still comes from Mark Millar’s source comic, the true key to the first movie’s success.
KICK-ASS 2 co stars Chloë Grace Moretz, Christopher Mintz-Plasse, and John Leguizamo. It arrives in cinemas July 2013.
