Not content with having almost bored us almost to death with his epic (read labourious) LORD OF THE RINGS trilogy, and planning to to do the same all over again with THE HOBBIT (why make one when you can just as easily knock out three for a very handsome profit margin?), Peter Jackson has expressed an interest in directing DOCTOR WHO.
After the Eleventh Doctor himself, Matt Smith, expressed interest in shooting in New Zealand (free holiday, innit?), The Times questioned Kiwi filmmaker Peter Jackson on whether he’d like to be involved. To which he replied:
I’m a huge Doctor Who fan, and I think Matt’s fantastic. Just name a time and place, and I’ll be there
Perhaps some old school Jackson-style splatter would liven up DOCTOR WHO, which let’s be honest is a mixed bag these days (nothing’s been the same since Billie Piper left).
As attractive as that may sound to the Whovians, don’t expect Oscar-winning director Jackson (who coincidentally used to look a bit like a DOCTOR WHO monster) to abandon post-production duties on THE HOBBIT for the tea-time adventure series anytime soon.
