Danny McBride and Bill Hader Added To Larry David’s HBO Movie

The man a lot of people love, but would hate to be embroiled in even a minor social interaction with, Larry David, is seeing the casting for his latest project, CLEAR HISTORY, fall perfectly into place. Danny McBride (EASTBOUND & DOWN) and Bill Hader (SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE) are the latest to join an intrinsically intriguing cast, including JB Smoove (who shone in David’s CURB YOUR ENTHUSIASM, as Leon Black), Michael Keaton, John Hamm, Eva Mendes, Kate Hudson, Phillip Baker Hall and Amy Ryan.

David will star in the film, for which he co-wrote the script, and will be working alongside Gregg Mottola (THE NEWSROOM), who will direct and executively produce. His fellow CURB writers, Alec Berg, David Mandel, and Jeff Schaffer also contributed to the screenplay, and are executive producers, with Mottola and Bradley Thomas (THERE’S SOMETHING ABOUT MARY).

The story focuses on another sympathetic misfit, former marketing executive, Nathan Flomm. It picks up on his life ten years after he loses a fortune, due to a ridiculous argument with his ex-boss, after which he leaves; throwing away ten per cent of the company in the process. The company is now worth billions, and Flomm has hit rock bottom. When the demise of his reputation and marriage leaves him with nothing, he decides to change his identity and live out the rest of his humble life on an island off the coast of Massachusetts. That is until his former boss (Hamm) shows up to oversee renovations on his summer mansion, prompting Flomm (now Rolly Davore) to concoct a plan to get rid of him once and for all.

Here’s a brief character outline for most of the supporting roles:

Michael Keaton (Hall) – The bizarre owner/operator of a local quarry.

Bill Hader (Rags) – Loyal friend and henchman of Hall, who agrees to help Flomm in his mission.

Kate Hudson (TBC) – Glamorous wife of Flomm’s old boss.

Danny McBride (TBC) – Flomm’s best friend.

Eva Mendes (TBC) – An islander who takes a throwaway comment from Flomm too seriously, resulting in perpetual problems for him.

JB Smoove (TBC) – The islander’s ex-boyfriend.

Amy Ryan (TBC) – An ex-girlfriend of Flomm’s, who has harboured a dark secret since before they were even together.

CLEAR HISTORY is due for release 2014.
