I for one am a massive Wes Anderson fan, especially for his attention to detail and use of recurring actors. However, every once in a while its good to start afresh and work with someone new. Apparently, this is exactly what Anderson plans (partly) to do for his new project, THE GRAND BUDAPEST HOTEL – and he’s starting off with British actor Jude Law.
Law is currently promoting ANNA KARENINA at the Toronto International Film Festival, but did answer a few questions regarding his new role. On how he made himself known to Anderson and secured his place, Law says,
‘I’ve been a huge fan of Wes. I pestered him with emails for years saying “I want to live in one of your films and I’d like to be in one of your films”. He sent me this wonderful script.’
He also says that they start filming the project in January and that the ‘usual team’ (of actors) will be joining him on set. Bill Murray, Jeff Goldblum, Willem Dafoe, Owen Wilson and Edward Norton (amongst others) have all been approached to take up roles, but Law (alongside fellow confirmed newbie Johnny Depp!) is the only actor officially attached.
I’m not a huge fan of Law, but after seeing him in KARENINA I’ve warmed to him and I imagine he’ll fit in perfectly. As for Depp, he has a subtle comedic flare about him, so I can’t wait to see what they create together!

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
