A film with perhaps the least appeeling (geddit) title of the year, THE ORANGES appears to be a cross between NATIONAL LAMPOON’S CHRISTMAS VACATION and that Steve Martin comedy from a couple of years back SHOPGIRL.
The movie sees Hugh Laurie leaving House way behind to star as David, head of the Walling family who enters into an affair with Nina (Leighton Meester), the daughter of best friends Terry and Carol Ostroff, played be Oliver Platt and Allison Janney.
Here’s how the official people word it:
The enduring friendship between the Walling and Ostroff families is tested when Nina, the prodigal Ostroff daughter, returns home for the holidays after a five-year absence and enters into an affair with David, head of the Walling family.
The film premiered at Toronto last year, and will make it over to UK cinemas on the 7th December. Julian Farino (CORONATION STREET, ENTOURAGE, THE OFFICE) directs.
The red band warning is there for swear words and talk of sucking old balls. You have been warned.
