First Teaser Footage From Spielberg’s ‘Lincoln’

When fact-based tales or biopics are done right, they’re usually Award grabbing epics. Steven Spielberg’s had his own fair share of contenders in this genre, with the likes of SCHINDLER’S LIST, SAVING PRIVATE RYAN and the criminally under-seen MUNICH, all worthy of esteemed praise. Next up, we have the highly anticipated LINCOLN which focuses on a man who this year was accused of being a vampire hunter (Timur Bekmambetov’s bonkers film was in my opinion great fun). When in reality, we all know that Abraham Lincoln is a legend and an icon to the world and very specifically: An all-American hero.

Daniel Day Lewis will portray honest Abe Lincoln in his latter life (and looking rather uncanny) in the biopic based on Doris Kearns Goodwin’s best-selling novel ‘Team Of Rivals‘. While there is not much in terms of footage in this teaser to announce the forthcoming trailer, it is just as exciting to see snippets of what we can expect…Check it out!

You’ll also see there is a Hangout to premiere the full trailer on Thursday with a Q & A including Spielberg and co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt, which will be hosted by Google Play. Fans interested in taking part should upload a short homemade video to their own YouTube channel with the new #LincolnHangout tag explaining who they are, why they are interested in the film and what they would like to ask the director and star about the film.

LINCOLN is released in UK cinemas 25th January 2013 and co-stars Sally Field, David Oyelowo, Tommy Lee Jones, James Spader, John Hawkes, Michael Stuhlbarg, David Strathairn, Walton Goggins, Tim Blake Nelson, Bruce McGill, Jackie Earle Haley, Lee Pace, and Jared Harris.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
