There is only one reason why I love Vin Diesel. While he’s had a number of successes in the acting career, as well as some bloody awful efforts, for myself it comes down to one film and one role only – PITCH BLACK’s Richard B. Riddick. As shite as THE CHRONICLES OF RIDDICK was, I’m excited about his return to the franchise with three-quel RIDDICK (which recently wrapped and will hit cinemas early next year), because the character is just so brilliantly bad-ass. A role that to me, he’s never bettered. So if only for me Vin, make sure the third instalment’s great!
Which brings us to news of an upcoming project entitled THE LAST WITCH HUNTER, set to be directed by THE CRAZIES’ Breck Eisner with Diesel currently in talks for the lead. Nic Cage has already fucked something like this up, with the dire SEASON OF THE WITCH. Here’s hoping Eisner and Diesel bring us something closer to the Vincent Price cult-classic WITCHFINDER GENERAL, with a plot that will see our Vin attempting to stop warlocks and witches banging away and producing an all-powerful, supernatural offspring.
Diesel is currently shooting FAST & FURIOUS 6 in London, so if your out and about in the capital and you spot the big man, tell ’em to make some bloody decent films again.
