Barry Levinson does found-footage horror! I’ve no idea what the Oscar-winning director of cinematic classics RAIN MAN, BUGSY, SLEEPERS and WAG THE DOG is thinking but, he certainly couldn’t do any worse than some of the dire efforts that have popped up over the last year (Yes we’re looking at you…THE DEVIL INSIDE, CHERNOBYL DIARIES). Then again, if you’re wanting a found-footage horror to work, why not get a decent talent involved, if they’re willing.

Was this the itch that Levinson had to scratch?…We’re just hoping it’s not the zit he had to squeeze, which ultimately becomes smeared on the mirror and hoped to be wiped from the memory. On the evidence of this first trailer, poster and official synopsis for THE BAY, it’s touch and go (POP)…Give us your thoughts.

The quaint seaside town of Chesapeake Bay thrives on water; it is the lifeblood of the community. When two biological researchers from France find a staggering level of toxicity in the water, they attempt to alert the mayor, but he refuses to create a panic in the docile town. As a result, a deadly plague is unleashed, turning the people of Chesapeake Bay into hosts for a mutant breed of parasites that take control of their minds, and eventually their bodies. A brutal and harrowing creature feature for the 21st century, THE BAY chronicles the descent of a small town into absolute terror.
