THN has already been surprised by one British heist thriller this week, with Frank Harper’s all-star crime caper ST. GEORGE’S DAY being well worth a look if it’s showing at a cinema near you from Friday (Read our review and exclusive interview with director and star Harper). Now early word is WASTELAND, directed by newcomer Rowan Athale, could be something even more special and also features two top actors from Harper’s film in Luke Treadaway and Neil Maskell.
The film is currently gaining a lot of attention after impressing at TIFF 2012 and on the evidence of this new trailer. WASTELAND looks grim, funny, brutal and most of all, twisted brilliance! Give us your thoughts on what is looking to be another Brit hit!
WASTELAND stars Matthew Lewis, Timothy Spall, Iwen Rheon, Vanessa Kirby and Gerard Kearns in the film expected later this year.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
