‘The Avengers’ Puts Together $1.5 Billion

THE AVENGERS first hit screens just over 4 months ago. Time sure does fly. Despite the fact it is about to be released on DVD, it is still causing a stir at cinemas worldwide and has just reached $1.5 billion. This was mostly thanks to a final Labor Day push from Disney. The theatre count was increased to 1,700 in the US and made another $1.7 million this weekend. Compared to last weekend’s take of $164,782, that’s an increase of 1,369%. Not bad for a film in its 18th week. Next we’ll see the official end to Marvel’s Phase 1 saga with THE AVENGERS release on DVD and Blu-ray and we can start the countdown to the start of Phase 2 and IRON MAN3 in May.

THE AVENGERS is released on DVD and Blu-ray 17th September. It stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, and Chris Hemsworth.
