I wasn’t sure what to expect when I attended a seminar about psychics and the whole supernatural phenomenon . To be quite honest, I was sitting there feeling rather bamboozled and speechless at the discussions that surrounded me, but let me set the scene.
After entering Treadwells in central London, I discovered a bookstore that contains almost every book about witchcraft, psychic practices, and the dark arts and perused the shop until the seminar began. Once we kicked off, it emerged that there was only a small selection of us attending in celebration of Ole Bornedel’s upcoming horror flick THE POSSESSION. The lady hosting was a professional clairvoyant/tarot reader/remote viewer/psychic development tutor and needless to say she hadn’t seen the film and I’m not sure if she even intended to. Regardless of this, she had some interesting things to say.
Out-of-body experiences were a hot topic but, personally, having never had one I couldn’t contribute, but it was a unique time hearing about some of them as a few had had them and were eager to share. As you would imagine, and countless stories have told us, when you have an out-of-body experience you can physically see your actual body once your spirit leaves it, and the impression I got was that you become more in tune with other spirits in the atmosphere. For a cynic like myself, this was all a little hard to digest but I kept with it, it wasn’t until the leader of seminar claimed that she and others met up in spirit recently on top of The Shard at London Bridge to search for a lost soul… I then stopped rationalising the concept completely.
I’m sure a lot of people when faced with things of this nature are very quick to judge. If you haven’t experienced it or tried to experience it (and it is something you can train to do) it’s very easy to brush aside as preposterous and silly. However, I wouldn’t say that I walked away with that attitude. Even though I didn’t subscribe intently to anything in particular, it was interesting to hear about and the idea of being possessed by spirits and how the notion has been popular for decades in horror films. So, with this in mind at least the information being shared offered an enlightening perspective on the ‘psychic arts’.
However loosely related the seminar was to the film it was a completely unique event to attend and it did make me more enthused about the release of THE POSSESSION, which is due for a cinema release 31st of August 2012.
