According to rumour, we will see no BATMAN reboot before a JUSTICE LEAGUE film. The plan is to introduce a new Batman in that film come 2015. Not necessarily a bad idea, as everyone is familiar with Batman’s origin. The thing that does concern me is how quickly Warner Bros. are steamrolling ahead with their superhero mash-up.
It’s clear those greedy guys are only after THE AVENGERS box-office numbers, but aren’t willing to lay the groundwork. We still don’t know if MAN OF STEEL will tie into THE JUSTICE LEAGUE which is reported to hit screens in 2015. Not only that, but Warner Bros. continually mess up their DC franchises. THE DARK KNIGHT trilogy was the only franchise they didn’t completely screw over. THE GREEN LANTERN was such a missed opportunity and could have been the best comicbook adaptation. The WONDER WOMAN TV series didn’t get past the pilot stage. Warner Bros. seem incapable of making a decent comicbook film and this is coming from a huge DC fan.
Ben Affleck has already debunked rumours that he will direct and Warner Bros. are now reportedly looking towards The Wachowski Siblings to direct. Hearing that news made me die a little inside and I could only recall the horrific mess that is SPEED RACER. The JUSTICE LEAGUE will take time, and that doesn’t seem as though something Warner Bros. is prepared to give it.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
