‘The Avengers’ Alternate Opening

I’m pretty sure that by the time THE AVENGERS is released on DVD we will have seen all of the extras online. They just keep spoiling us. Here’s one of the most interesting extras we’ve seen so far. It’s an alternate opening to the film that teases the destruction caused by the invasion. We see cars overturned, emergency services running back and forth, and Captain America looking glum. We then cut to Agent Hill (Cobie Smulders) being interrogated by The World Security Council. She places the blame on what happened with Nick Fury  and discusses what a poor team The Avengers made.

I can see why they cut this opening. It hints at something a lot bigger than we actually got. It kind of suggests that the heroes failed or many people died. With this opening I would have at least expected to have seen a huge emotional disaster or a main character die. I also wouldn’t want to see a superhero film told in flashback. It just makes it seem as though the action has already happened and we’re late to the party. Still, it’s an interesting curiosity and here it is for you.

THE AVENGERS is released on DVD and Blu-ray 17th September. It stars Chris Evans, Robert Downey Jr., Mark Ruffalo, and Chris Hemsworth.
