Can Wes Ball Navigate ‘The Maze Runner’? Fox Seem To Think So

Yet another novel that sounds like it wants in on THE HUNGER GAMES’ success is being set for adaptation. THE MAZE RUNNER is being produced by Fox based on the book by James Dashner. Wes Ball is set to direct, and Fox seem to be showing a lot of faith in the man. Fox were very impressed by Ball’s animated short RUIN which he is currently developing as a live-action feature film with screenwriter T.S. Nowlin. Ball runs an animation/effects company called Oddball Animation.

I know earlier I reported on the adaptation of DIVERGENT with just a little hint of negativity (read about it here), but this actually sounds interesting. It will see a young man called Thomas awaken in a place called The Glade, surrounded by other children. The Glade is a large open expanse surrounded by stone walls. Nobody knows why they are here, but every 30 days a new boy joins their ranks. However, the day after Thomas’ arrival, a girl joins them. The first girl to arrive in The Glades. I think it’s the mystery factor that has me intrigued, so I hope this story can live up to the premise.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.

This series rivals The Hunger Games. I can’t wait for the next book in the series to come out. If produced right, this book could be another block buster.
