Benedict Cumberbatch is one of this generation’s greatest British actors, and along with the likes of Tom Hardy, he just keeps getting those roles. The most recent rumblings have him in talks to join AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY, a film based on a Pulitzer and Tony Award winning play. The film is to be directed by John Wells, and sees a family brought back together after a crisis. If he signs on, Cumberbatch will join the likes of Meryl Streep, Julia Roberts and Chris Cooper.
Cumberbatch has just finished TWELVE YEARS A SLAVE with Michael Fassbender and Bradd Pitt. He will also be seen in STAR TREK 2 as the film’s villain and he will be heard as the dragon Smaug in THE HOBBIT; but with it being a rumoured trilogy who knows when he will show up! AUGUST: OSAGE COUNTY looks to begin filming in Oklahoma in late-September.
