Pond Life Offers An Early Fix Of Doctor Who

Can’t wait ’till next Saturday to get your DOCTOR WHO fix, when season 7 premieres with ‘Asylum of the Daleks’? Us neither. What luck then, that the BBC are launching an online mini-series entitled POND LIFE, following the eponymous Amy and Rory’s day-to-day lives outside the Tardis – and just what happens when the Doctor drops in.

The five-part series will premiere online here at noon on Monday 27th August, with the other episodes following daily. If you don’t have access to the internet – well, first, how are you reading this?! And second, fear not, because you’ll be able to catch all five episodes via the BBC’s Red Button on Saturday 1st September.

Chris Chibnall, writer of the mini-series, explains further:

‘POND LIFE provides us with a lovely opportunity to catch-up with Amy and Rory since we saw them at the end of the last series.  It opens with the Ponds at home and gives us an insight in to just what happens when the Doctor drops in and out of their lives.  Travelling with the Doctor is one of the greatest things you can do, but it’s fun to spend a few moments looking at the chaos he can also bring.’

The series is directed by Saul Metzstein, with Caroline Skinner exec producing. She commented:

‘Chris has written a beautiful, heartfelt and wickedly funny piece about the adventures the Ponds have been having with the Doctor since we last saw them on-screen.  It’s not long till the series itself will be back with a vengeance – but in the meantime, POND LIFE is a truly heart-warming piece about our best-loved companions and their madcap relationship with their raggedy Doctor.’

Make sure to bookmark the BBC’s DOCTOR WHO site to catch the mini-series from Monday – here’s that link again if you missed it – and set your reminders for the season 7 premiere on Saturday 1st September. And until then, check out the latest trailer right here on THN!

He recently graduated in Journalism from City University and is actually a journalist and everything now (currently working as Sports Editor at The News Hub).
