Eli Roth Says That ‘Thanksgiving’ Will Happen

Back in 2007 the USA was treated to a double-bill of PLANET TERROR and DEATH PROOF in the film GRINDHOUSE. Unfortunately due to its poor success it was split up for us in the UK. Which wasn’t so bad as DEATH PROOF sucked. Along with GRINDHOUSE came a number of fake trailers. We’ve already seen MACHETE and HOBO WITH A SHOTGUN (was included as a fake trailer in Canada), and now Eli Roth is promising us he intends to make his fake trailer THANKSGIVING a reality.Roth and his writing partner Jeff Rundell have hired the writers of CLOWN, Jon Watts and Christopher D. Ford to write the screenplay. Talking to Behind The Thrills Roth had this to say:

Dude, it’s gonna happen. I’m working with the CLOWN writers on it. We have a call scheduled for tomorrow afternoon. Jeff Rundell, my co-writer and I have a very extensive treatment. We finally cracked the story and how to make it really really scary, and the reason to do it, and I’m really excited about it. So the CLOWN script was one of the best scripts I’ve ever read, and we’re like ‘before Jon [Watts] shoots CLOWN, he has a window.’ Chris Ford, who’s movie ROBOT & FRANK just opened… Chris and John are going to write the screenplay with me and my partner Jeff, so we’ll have a screenplay soon.

Looking forward to this, as the original fake trailer had a lot of gross imagery and was also very funny. Here’s hoping Roth can recapture the tone perfectly. Here’s the trailer in case you forgot.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.

Thanksgiving is literally the only decent film Eli Roth has ever made!
