Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje Joins ‘Thor: The Dark World’ As Villain

Looks like Christopher Ecckileston is going to have some help in being evil and cunning for THOR: THE DARK WORLD, in the form of Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje. Akinnuoye-Agbaje will be playing another of the dark elves, Algrim The Strong. Algrim is the strongest of the dark elves and can easily go up against Thor. However, he is betrayed by Malekith in the comics, who opens a pit of lava beneath Algrim and Thor during a big fight. Luckily for Algrim, his enchanted armour saves him and luckily for Malekith, he suffers from amnesia and only blames Thor for his accident.

This is very exciting as Akinnuoye-Agbaje is a wonderful actor. He first came to my attention in THE BOURNE IDENTITY as the political leader Bourne failed to assassinate. No doubt someone will start complaining about too many villains, but it seems to make sense in the context of an army of elves. A thinker as the leader and a fighter as his right-hand man.

THOR: THE DARK WORLD is released 8th November 2013. It stars Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Christopher Eccleston, Natalie Portman, Kat Dennings, Idris Elba, Zachary Levi, Stellan Skarsgard, Jaimie Alexander, Ray Stevenson, and Tadanobu Asano.
