Perhaps I’m in the minority by saying I wasn’t taken with Robert Schwentke’s action-comedy RED. I love a good action film like most, especially ones with a few laughs, but I never saw anything in the film that impressed me or I hadn’t seen before. Don’t get me wrong, it had its moments and was certainly not a disaster but I felt the plot was much like many of the stars – geriatric. However, I’m willing to give them another try as RED must have connected with enough with sequel RED 2 soon on the way with returnees Bruce Willis, Helen Mirren, John Malkovich and Mary-Louise Parker joined by newcomers to the franchise Anthony Hopkins, Neal McDonough, Catherine Zeta-Jones and Byung-hun Lee.
There is currently no word yet on the plot but no doubt it will feature a whole lot of bullets, bombs and bad language. THN is able to bring you the teaser poster for the soon-to-shoot sequel with GALAXY QUEST director Dean Parisot taking over the reigns from Schwentke. It’s expected to hit cinemas 2nd August 2013. Parisot was also recently confirmed as the director of the forthcoming Bill and Ted threequel.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

I hope Karl Urban is also in this, as well as Brian Cox. The actors are all great, but I think those two made the first movie more interesting, particularly Urban.
