In anticipation for the Alex Garland penned DREDD, coming to cinemas in a mere two weeks, an amusing viral site entitled the ‘Dredd Report’ has been launched to keep the interest train a’runnin’. A not-so-subtle mocking of the Drudge Report, the site features Mega City One crime statistics and a radiation level forecast for the week, as well as news clippings such as “Dredd speaks out on Government Inefficiency” and “Latest Bullet Proof Vest Designs Unveiled In Fashion Show”.
Also released is a public service announcement regarding the drug ‘Slo-Mo’. Slo-mo has taken Mega City One by storm in DREDD, and causes users to experience reality in, you guessed it, slow motion, which probably means there are some spectacular looking action scenes in the upcoming film. Check out the site and video below.
Karl Urban stars as the eponymous Judge in DREDD. The film focuses on a routine day where the legendary lawman takes psychic rookie Judge Anderson (Olivia Thirlby) out on patrol. When a call brings them to one of the huge city slum blocks controlled by Slo-Mo drug lord and ruthless block ruler, Ma-Ma (Lena Headey), Dredd and Anderson find themselves locked inside with Ma-Ma and her drug-fuelled henchmen, and the Judges are faced with a relentless battle for their survival.
DREDD hits UK cinemas on 7th September 2012.
