Tom Hanks and his production partner Gary Goetzman will be producing PARKLAND, a film that looks at the assassination of American president John Fitzgerald Kennedy. First time director Peter Landesman will take on the project through Hanks and Goetzman’s Playtone Productions. Landesman is most famous for writing an article for The New York Times titled The Girls Next Door (read it here) which was about sex slaves. That article was turned into a film in 2007 called TRADE.
PARKLAND will detail the events leading up to the assassination. With Peter Landesman involved I’m guessing the film will try and be more factual, rather than exploring conspiracy theories. The title PARKLAND refers to the Parkland Memorial Hospital where both John F. Kennedy and Lee Harvey Oswalt died.

Luke likes many things, films and penguins being among them. He's loved films since the age of 9, when STARGATE and BATMAN FOREVER changed the landscape of modern cinema as we know it. His love of film extends to all aspects of his life, with trips abroad being planned around film locations and only buying products featured in Will Smith movies. His favourite films include SEVEN SAMURAI, PASSION OF JOAN OF ARC, IN BRUGES, LONE STAR, GODZILLA, and a thousand others.
