‘The Houdini Box’ From The Author Of ‘Hugo’ Sells Its Rights

After the phenomenal critical success of Martin Scorsese’s HUGO, it is only natural that companies want to try and reinvent that winning formula. First stop is to look at the author of the book that HUGO was based on, Brian Selznick, and buy up the rights to his other work. Chernin Entertainment, the company behind TV shows NEW GIRL and TERRA NOVA and the film RISE OF THE PLANET OF THE APES, have bought the rights to THE HOUDINI BOX. THE HOUDINI BOX sees a young boy who wants to be a great illusionist just like Houdini. One day he receives a mysterious box with secrets from his idol.

HUGO was a magical tale that really was a family movie and not something that  just tried to scrape through the wallets of parents. Let’s hope Chernin Entertainment can bring back some of that magic and heart.
