French director Pierre Morel is currently in talks to helm action thriller THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD. If a deal is agreed, the director (of parkour sensation DISTRICT 13 and Liam Neeson’s revenge-fuelled TAKEN) will tell the story of a bodyguard assigned to protect an assassin for hire, who has agreed to testify against a former government official.
The project could be Morel’s first big-screen directing effort, since FROM PARIS WITH LOVE bombed at the box-office. He’s been involved in the production of upcoming television project ZERO HOUR, and is developing a small-screen retelling of historical epic WILLIAM THE CONQUEROR. Morel is also on the shortlist to direct Denzel Washington as Robert McCall in a remake of the 80s action series THE EQUALIZER, which shoots early next year. THE HITMAN’S BODYGUARD has a script by Tom O’Connor.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
