Jake Gyllenhaal Takes A Gamble On ‘Mississippi Grind’

Jake Gyllenhaal is reportedly in talks to board the next feature from HALF NELSON duo Ryan Fleck and Anna Boden. The  pair have penned — and are set to direct — MISSISSIPPI GRIND which focuses on the seedy world of gambling and is an absolute ballache to type.

Gyllenhaal will star as a young gambling addict who teams up with a down-on-his-luck gambler. The two men travel through the South and attempt to restore the old timer to his former glory. No word on the casting for the second lead so feel free to comment below about who you’d like to see (Jeff Daniels and Woody Harrelson were the first to spring to my mind…)

Fleck and Boden most recently adapted IT’S KIND OF A FUNNY STORY starring Zack Galifianakis, and earned critical acclaim for their 2008 baseball drama SUGAR.

Gyllenhaal will next be seen in documentary-style cop drama END OF WATCH. Check out the trailer here.

(Also, I can’t not mention that the words Jake, Gyllenhaal, and Grind remind me of this beautiful scene from Jarhead. Enjoy that.)
