In an internet age it isn’t long before rumour can be reported as news. We’ve made mistakes before, such as the story we covered in which Dan Aykroyd had reportedly cloned Bill Murray and was going to use Billy II (as Aykroyd named him) in GHOSTBUSTERS III. As such, Universal Pictures are debunking any reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped from a SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN SEQUEL. Universal Co-Chairman Donna Langley said in a statement:
We are extremely proud of SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN and we’re currently exploring all options to continue the franchise. Any reports that Kristen Stewart has been dropped are false.
This isn’t to say that Stewart is definitely going to be in a sequel. It’s still a tricky situation. Universal has already announced a new project with SNOW WHITE AND THE HUNTSMAN director Rupert Sands. Will he be back for a sequel, and if he is would Stewart want to come back?
I’m still hoping for the sequel to pick-up from where the after credits scene left off. That scene saw Samuel L. Jackson approach the Huntsman and ask “You think you’re the only fairy tale character out there? I want you to join The Grimm Initiative.”
