THE EXPENDABLES 2 hasn’t even muscled its way into British cinemas yet, and already we have news of four possible additions to the cast for the third instalment. Producer, Avi Lerner revealed the names of the four heavy-hitting Hollywood heroes in an interview, and, admittedly, they have inspired a glimmer of intrigue. He stated:
‘We’ve approached Clint Eastwood to be one of the guys, we’ve got a character in mind for him. We’re talking to Harrison Ford, and we want Wesley Snipes, when he comes back from prison. I’ll give you one more name, we’ve got Nicolas Cage. And we’re going to bring Mickey Rourke back, if he won’t be too crazy; I like Mickey. And of course, the existing stars will return.’
Maybe that glimmer of intrigue is more of an all-encompassing desire. This could be a marketing ploy, but it works, damn it.
The casting negotiations are subject to change, of course, but it’s difficult to imagine anyone declining to join Sly and the gang to play in, what is essentially, the ultimate man-child’s playground.
