Oscar-winner Tim Robbins is perhaps most memorable for his acting work in the likes of THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, MYSTIC RIVER and THE PLAYER, but his terrific output as director is often overlooked. His satirical look at the crazy political world with BOB ROBERTS (which he also starred), is a dark comedic gem. He even directed his long term partner (until recently) Susan Sarandon to Oscar glory in DEAD MAN WALKING during the mid-1990s.
He’s helmed a number of episodes of accalimed series TREME recently, but he’s about to undertake a big-screen romantic spy-thriller CITY OF LIES. The film will have a script by Chris Markus and Stephen McFeely, the duo responsible for CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE FIRST AVENGER and Michael Bay’s upcoming crime-thriller PAIN OR GAIN. It will be Robbins’ first directed feature since 1999’s CRADLE WILL ROCK.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
