Countdown To Cute Overload: New Stills Released From ‘Toy Story’ Short

If you haven’t yet seen TOY STORY 3, where have you been? Don’t give me some excuse about being ‘too busy’ – you’re never too busy to watch TOY STORY. If you can’t already tell, I’m a massive fan of the Disney trilogy, so I was more than excited to see stills released from the upcoming short PARTYSAURUS REX.

Directed by Mark Walsh (an animator for FINDING NEMO, RATATOUILLE and THE INCREDIBLES), this mini-movie sees Rex become the star, as he’s contracted in as a bath toy. However, when bath time ends so does the fun, as his new comrades become stuck to the bottom of the tub. Even with his little limbs, Rex is able to get the party going again and somehow turns their boring, plastic home into a rave epicentre. Walsh has commented on his new creation, saying:

‘If you’re a bath toy you get really intense playtime. It’s like a party. Then when the water goes down you can’t move. You’re helpless. And that’s pathetic, these guys in the bottom of the tub all the time.’

Rex is known as being the overly worried, anxious type, so to see him take on the role of hero is something completely new. Walsh has said that he was going for the ‘new guy’ idea – that Rex could reinvent himself with his new buddies. Could this foreshadow a new face of Rex for a possible TOY STORY 4? In my dreams!

These new stills certainly turn the cuteness dial to an 11 – just look at Bonnie covered in bubbles! But have you also noticed the Sully (MONSTERS INC.) coloured toilet seat? I wonder what’s happened to him, then…

PARTYSAURUS REX is to be shown before screenings of FINDING NEMO 3D, which is released in cinemas from 29th March 2013 (while the US gets the 3D version from 14th September 2012).

Considering Jazmine grew up watching CARRY ON SCREAMING, THE LION KING and JURASSIC PARK on repeat for weeks on end, it made sense for her to study film at London South Bank University. It’s also a good thing that her course requires a lot of sitting down because she’s very accident-prone. When she’s not examining her bruises, she likes pretending that she doesn’t live in Southend-On-Sea and spends hours mindlessly blogging. Favourite films include BLUE VALENTINE, ETERNAL SUNSHINE OF THE SPOTLESS MIND and TOY STORY 2.
