Although the first SAW was well received back in 2004, and actually a pretty darn good film on its own right, the SAW franchise has been on a slippery slope since, churning out mediocre and convoluted sequels every year. With 2010s SAW 3D wrapping up the series in a neat little package, it seemed that this was the end for Jigsaw and his lethal games (finally).
But have no fear SAW fans, whoever you are, because the hum at Lionsgate is that a big ol’ reboot is on the books. Although nothing has been set in stone yet, the studio is also mulling over the idea of an eighth film for the current series, SAW 3D 2: THE ABSOLUTE FINAL CHAPTER, SERIOUSLY (probably not the real title). Whether it’ll be another sequel or an entire remake of the series, or both, Jigsaw will be returning in the near future. Perhaps Lionsgate can bridge the SAW remake with the TWILIGHT reboot they’re also planning, and have a horror/fantasy/romance crossover where there’s no happy endings and everyone gets brutally killed. Hopefully.

Ha! Well said. I’m desperately unhappy about all of this. I call ‘shenanigans’!
