Inspiration Overload In Spoilerific Trailer For ‘Playing For Keeps’

In the trailer for Gerard Butler and Jessica Biel starrer PLAYING FOR KEEPS, you get to see the entire plot unravel. Every single incidental twist is laid out for you, which should save you a few pennies at the multiplex. This seems to be your average inspirational romantic comedy. Butler plays an ex-footballer with a failed career and a failed marriage. Luckily he has managed to maintain his strong relationship with his son. He decides to coach his son’s football team and soon meets one of the other children’s mums that just happens to be a sportscaster (Catherine Zeeta-Jones). Zeta-Jones offers him a job but also makes a move on Butler. He turns her down as he is still in love with his ex-wife, Jessica Biel, Only problem is, Biel is getting remarried. Butler gets on a plane and arrives at the wedding, but is he too late?

I would just like to say that I haven’t spoiled anything, it’s all in the trailer. I just hope THE PURSUIT OF HAPPYNESS director Gabrielle Muccino has the balls to have Biel tell Butler to “Jog on.” No matter what, I wont be seeing this until it pops up on the telly. Even then I’ll record it on Sky+ where it will probably stay for months until I come down with an illness that incapacitates me to the point I am unable to drag myself from the sofa. I don’t know what the point of this film is, perhaps to make women swoon and hope Butler will come and ruin their wedding day?

PLAYING FOR KEEPS is released 1st February 2013 (or you can watch the whole film condensed into 2 minutes below). It stars Gerard Butler, Jessica Biel, Uma Thurman, Dennis Quaid, and Catherine Zeeta-Jones.
