THE MASTER is one of the most hotly anticipated films from Paul Thomas Anderson, the man behind the gloriously gritty THERE WILL BE BLOOD and the wonderfully dark and weaving MAGNOLIA. A few weeks ago, we saw that amazing new trailer, we’ve had that whiskey or wine bottle poster and, a little further back, the news that Scientology poster-boy Tom Cruise got an early chance to see it but we’re not sure he appreciated it.
THE MASTER is set in the 1950s, and focuses on the relationship between an intellectual who is known as ‘The Master’ and his religious organisation as it starts to take America by storm, and a young man who gets caught in the swirl and becomes part of it. It stars Philip Seymour Hoffman as Lancaster Dodd, Amy Adams as Mary Sue Dodd and Joaquin Phoenix as Freddie Sutton. We truly hope it’s exceptional. Check out this amazing new poster, through a distorted looking glass, perhaps?
