Disney chairman Bob Iger has announced that Joss Whedon has officially signed on to write and direct THE AVENGERS 2. Not only this, but Joss Whedon is also going to create a ‘Marvel-based’ TV show. Considering the fact that THE AVENGERS has grossed $1.5 billion worldwide, I hope Whedon is charging a lot for his services.
This is incredibly exciting news for any fans out there, as I’m sure we can all appreciate how much of THE AVENGERS’ success was Whedon’s doing. His talent for humour, dialogue, characters and explosive action sequences all came together for such a mammoth task. It will be interesting to see how Whedon brings the team back together as the sequels for each individual hero is being helmed by a new director. The news about a TV series is the icing on the cake. I’m personally hoping for an Agents Of SHIELD series following the guys during a clean-up after THE AVENGERS.
