Jennifer Ehle To Robocop?

José Padilha’s ROBOCOP just keeps getting bigger, with reports surfacing that Brit actress Jennifer Ehle is in talks to join the cast. Ehle is best known for her parts in TV’s PRIDE AND PREJUDICE and THE KING’S SPEECH. If she signs on, Ehle will apparently play a character called Liz Kline, who we know no nothing about.

Liz Kline is one of several characters completely original to the remake, suggesting the movie is even more of an unknown quantity than originally thought. It seems that Padilha’s version will bring something entirely new to the ROBOCOP story. Check out the official synopsis below:

The year is 2029 and multinational conglomerate OmniCorp is at the centre of robot technology. Their drones are winning American wars around the globe and now they want to bring this technology to the home front.

Alex Murphy is a loving husband, father and good cop doing his best to stem the tide of crime and corruption in Detroit. After he is critically injured in the line of duty, OmniCorp utilises their remarkable science of robotics to save Alex’s life.

He returns to the streets of his beloved city with amazing new abilities, but with issues a regular man has never had to face before.

ROBOCOP stars Joel Kinnaman, Gary Oldman, Hugh Laurie, Samuel L Jackson, and Jackie Earle Haley. It arrives in cinemas 2013.
