The unique team of veteran Nashville Singer/Songwriter Danny Darst and Producer/Director Michael Altman (Eldest son of the late film legend Robert Altman -MASH, GOSFORD PARK) have been steadily working around the clock for over two and a half years producing an ambitious stage production, two soundtrack albums, an independent feature film, and now this award winning documentary. Incredibly, until this point, they have made no personal attempts to publicise their accomplishments but all that has been changing, as this documentary lights up the film festival circuit.
Since first joining forces in early 2010 to present the world premiere of Danny’s epic stage production “EXIT 10”, the pair have established the now impressive Altman Darst LLC, along with Michael’s wife, partner and executive producer Karon. Talking about the projects, Michael had this to say:
“We have kept our heads down and our noses to the grindstone doing what we know how to do, creating quality art in whatever medium we find ourselves in next.”
Their most recent release AMERICAN SONGWRITER is an insightful documentary and coupled with the soundtrack, it focuses on the life and music of Danny Darst. The film also has quite a wonderful description and check out the trailer and a clip of Danny performing, just below:
