Confirmed: Fassbender & Rapace Will Return For Prometheus Sequel ‘Paradise’

Ridley Scott’s return to the ALIEN universe with PROMETHEUS, had many of us here at THN in hot debate. While I can see why some found the plot a bit of a head-scratcher and uninspiring, I certainly found plenty in the film to dazzle and thrill. On the other hand, it’s safe to say that Ridley set up a lot that was still mysteriously unexplained.  The legendary director later confirmed his story wasn’t complete and that a sequel was always the plan, to be entitled PARADISE. With that news, we wondered if this follow-up would continue the story of Elizabeth Shaw and now broken-bot David, who flew off to the Engineer planet to find the answers.

Now, we can confirm both Noomi Rapace and Michael Fassbender will return and both were always going to as they were contractually obliged, providing the film was a box-office success. Well, PROMETHEUS was undoubtedly that and despite being rated R in the US, enough of us went to see ‘the search for our beginning’. Ridley Scott currently has his hands full, reuniting with Michael Fassbender on Cormac McCarthy’s crime-thriller THE COUNSELOR, but we’d also expect him to return.

Currently, 20th Century Fox are penciling in a release for PARADISE in 2014 or 2015.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
