John M Chu To Direct Masters Of The Universe

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION may have been pushed back to March but the action scenes must be impressing someone. Jon M. Chu is now in talks for another action figure adaptation, the long talked about MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE. Chu is currently shooting a few extra scenes for his delayed blockbuster as well as overseeing a 3D conversion. I was incredibly impressed by the trailers for G.I. JOE: RETALIATION and was looking forward to the action filled sequel. It was surprising to be so thrilled by such scenes as Chu was mostly known for his dance/music focused films STEP UP 2: THE STREETS, STEP UP 3D, and JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER.

MASTERS OF THE UNIVERSE already had a lice-action outing back in 1987. It starred Dolph Lundgren and Courtney Cox. Unfortunately for that film, it decided to place the story in our world instead of the fantastical Eternia. And there was no Battle Cat. But we can forgive the 80s, they probably would have set LORD OF THE RINGS in Manhattan and replaced Cave Trolls with rude cab drivers.

G.I. JOE: RETALIATION is set for release 29th March 2013. It stars Dwayne Johnson, Bruce Willis, Channing Tatum, Ray Park, Adrianne Palicki, and Ray Stevenson.
