It is truly the age of the remake, and not every film that rolls off that particular assembly line is met with enthusiasm. Len Wiseman’s updated TOTAL RECALL may be one such film, as the 1990 original is a bonafide sci-fi classic – not only Arnie’s best but also from ultra-violent heyday of director Paul Verhoeven. One has to assume that the new version has something special up its sleeve if it intends to top or match the original.
It does have a reliable leading man in Colin Farrell, not to mention the popular Bryan Cranston on villain duties. And coming from a Phillip K. Dick short story, there’s plenty of room for invention with the plot, perhaps distinguishing the new film from the old version. Either way, it will be interesting to see how this particular remake turns out.

TOTAL RECALL arrives in UK cinemas 29th August.
