Jim Carrey announced his departure for the sequel to DUMB & DUMBER a number of weeks ago, citing that the studio had a lack of passion for the project and although co-star Jeff Daniels agreed, he also commented that the project was far from dead. It’s no secret that Carrey and Daniels want to return, as do flayling directors The Farrelly Brothers. So where do the gut-busting duo of the 1994 classic comedy find the project now? Bobby Farrelly gave this comment:
I believe a sequel is going to happen. We’re going to shoot this because Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels want to do it. For the first time, they are both available and are eager to do it. But it hasn’t been the easiest thing in the world to get off the ground. For the people who wear the suits [it’s difficult] to read such a silly script and say ‘oh that’s hysterical let’s make it.’ They are businessmen; they’re not comedians. We feel we have a very very funny script. We’re optimistic it will get made this fall.
So there you (possibly) have it, the directors are confident DUMB & DUMBER TO will shoot before the year ends. Are you excited at the prospect of Carrey and Daniels as the lovable but brainless two-some returning? We’d love to find out your thoughts, as always let us know!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

With the original cast and directorial team (all of whom are fantastic and kings of comedy) this is one belated/throw back sequel I’m keen to see happen. Fingers crossed!

The original with Carey and Daniels is in my book, already a classic. I would spend my hard earned cash to see the sequel. I hope the deal gets done.
