Sleeping Beauty Becomes Stalker In New Comic Re-Imagining

The classic fairy tale SLEEPING BEAUTY is ‘a tale as old as time’, as Disney might say. However, producer of THE FAST & THE FURIOUS and TOTAL RECALL, Neal H. Moritz, has plans of his own in bringing the story up-to-date for an all-new generation of film-goers.

New screenwriters Mike Gagerman and Andrew Waller are tasked with giving the project a comedic twist in which we’ll see the lovable princess awake in present day to discover the ‘prince charming’ responsible is not really interested in pursuing her. This will hopefully lead to hilarious efforts in making her dreams come true and living happily ever after… even if that means she becomes a modern day stalker. Part of the plot does sound similar to the dreadful MY SUPER EX-GIRLFRIEND, so hopefully we’re hoping for a lot better.

If they pull it off, there could be an enjoyable romp on offer. As for casting and directors, we’re yet to hear any names being bandied about but THN will keep you informed as and when they happen. The title may also change to distance itself from the recent same-titled dark, adult drama starring Emily Browning.

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
