Juliet Snowden and Stiles White, the writers behind KNOWING (2009), are set to rewrite and direct the film OUIJA. This project has been in gestation for a very long time, switching hands between writers, directors, and studios. McG was once set to direct, but apparently Paramount weren’t willing to give him a $100 million dollar budget for such a simple film. What the hell was he planning on? A cross between the occult and JUMANJI (1995)? Universal now have the rights and are going for a much more reasonable $5 million budget.
Ouija boards have never been widely available in the UK, but not because they are illegal as many urban myths suggest. However, in the US they are produced by Hasbro and are readily available. Or they used to me anyway. If BATTLESHIPS was anything to go by, it will probably transpire that the ouija board is being controlled by aliens or some crap.
