Falcon Takes Flight For Captain America: The Winter Soldier

With Comic-Con out of the way, you’d have thought news on upcoming superhero projects would have died down a touch. But Marvel Studios are still going and are currently in talks in THE ADJUSTMENT BUREAU’s Anthony Mackie for the role of Sam Wilson – aka Falcon – who is set to feature in sequel CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER.

The follow-up to Joe Johnson’s origin tale will see Steve Rogers come up against a familiar foe. The corpse of best pal Bucky Barnes (played by Sebastian Stan), who supposedly perished when he fell from a mountainside battle in THE FIRST AVENGER, is discovered perfectly preserved and brought back as a Russian assassin with bionic body parts.

As for Mackie’s potential involvement, it’s expected he’ll appear as Rogers’ capable new sidekick. A character who was the first African-American superhero in comic-book history, Falcon has a suit that enables him the fly, with the added bonus of being able to communicate telepathically with birds, which is handy.

Chris Evans will return as the genetically engineered super-soldier in CAPTAIN AMERICA: THE WINTER SOLDIER, which is being directed by brothers Anthony and Joe Russo. The film opens on 4th April 2014. For more on other Marvel projects go HERE and HERE, hoorah!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.
