If you’re a huge fan of Guillermo Del Toro’s HELLBOY franchise, you’ll be pleased to hear the visionary director is desperate to complete the trilogy. Del Toro, who is currently at Comic-Com promoting his giant monsters verses giant machines epic PACIFIC RIM, always wanted to return to series. However, both HELLBOY and HELLBOY II: THE GOLDEN ARMY never quite made the box-office return they deserved and Universal, who bought the rights from Columbia Pictures, are not prepared to risk another huge budget.
The heartbreaking story surrounding Ron Perlman’s appearance as HELLBOY (making a child’s Make-A-Wish foundation dream come true and meeting his icon) has made Del Toro more determined than ever. Speaking to EW, the director of acclaimed and cult classics as CRONOS and PANS LABYRINTH commented:
I can say publicly that now we are together in trying [to do Hellboy 3]. We’re going to make an effort to do it. I hope it happens.
Star Ron Perlman added:
The [first] two movies were really set up to have this unbelievable resolve. Everything that was done in both movies was leading up to this destiny, written in stone, of what Hellboy has been summoned to Earth to do. To not do it, particularly in light of the scope that Guillermo is thinking of for the resolve, would be in my mind a little bit of a shame.
So are you excited at the prospect of another epic adventure involving Mike Mingola’s horned hero? Let us know your thoughts!

Craig was our great north east correspondent, proving that it’s so ‘grim up north’ that losing yourself in a world of film is a foregone prerequisite. He has been studying the best (and often worst) of both classic and modern cinema at the University of Life for as long as he can remember. Craig’s favorite films include THE SHAWSHANK REDEMPTION, JFK, GOODFELLAS, SCARFACE, and most of John Carpenter’s early work, particularly THE THING and HALLOWEEN.

Best news I ever wanted to hear. My life will be completed if Hellboy 3 gets made. If there’s any way to support Del Toro & Perlman in making the film possible, then I’ll gladly make a donation or help in anyway.

I enjoyed both Hellboy movies immensely. The idea that Hellboy, a demon, could be on the side of Good appealed to me. It was nurture, not nature, that determined his actions. Hope the third installment is made. Love Ron Perlman’s portrayal.
